“I just get out my calendar and block days out.” “It’s always been like this, but I didn’t know there was a problem.” “I’ve had issues for years, but I didn’t know there was something I could do about it.” “My girlfriends said this happens to them, too.” “My primary doctor said it was nothing to worry over because it’s always been like this.”
I hear statements like this all the time; ladies come to my office for a consultation and they tell me they’ve had problems for years. And you ladies are strong! Oftentimes your symptoms have been around for so long that rather than try to combat them you have just adapted to them. Maybe your periods are so awful that you track them on the calendar and black out your social calendar the week of your upcoming period– you know you won’t be able to go out and have fun. Or maybe when you go to the movies or out to dinner you choose your seat based on how easy it will be to get out to run to the restroom. Or maybe your periods are so random you keep feminine products with you all the time… just in case.
When your menstrual cycle runs your life, it’s a problem. When you are missing out on school, work, or social events because of your period, it’s a problem. When your life is heavily inconvenienced because of your period, that’s a problem. If these things are happening to you, make an appointment to meet me for a consultation. There are ways we can help, but we can’t help if you don’t reach out. Our office in Chico, CA can be reached at 530-332-9703.
