Warm Epsom Salt Baths Work Wonders

benefits-epsom-salt-bathEpsom salt baths are a wonderful way to soothe sore muscles, relax, and help with pelvic pain. The magnesium and sulfates in the Epsom salt are absorbed through your skin helping your body reduce inflammation, eliminate your body of toxins, and relieve cramping and aching. Epsom salt has been used for hundreds of years!

We advise patients to take warm Epsom salt baths to help with pain. Soaking in the tub for thirty minutes to an hour can be a natural way to relieve soreness without turning to medications. How you respond to Epsom salt baths can also help us diagnose your condition; decreased pain after a bath may point to pelvic floor issues whereas pain that does not go away after a bath may indicate endometriosis.

If you have recently had surgery, we advise soaking in plain water until Dr. Davis gives you the okay. Epsom salt, although helpful for healing cuts and scrapes, needs to stay away from incision areas.

Epsom salt is available at drug stores and can be found at Target and Costco as well.
